Elevate Your Resume and Ace the Interview

Are you looking for a new job or considering a career change? Learn how to supercharge your resume and confidently interview for the jobs you want. In this webinar, Kristi Oliva shared her secrets.

Kristi Oliva is a former middle school teacher who now works as a program manager. She has worked for 3 Fortune 10 companies and has been promoted twice in 4 years since leaving teaching.

In the webinar, she covers topics like:

  • Assessing your skills to identify potential new career paths
  • Setting career goals
  • Building your resume and LinkedIn profile
  • Preparing for corporate interviews

Self-Assessment

First, you must decide where you want to go in your career. Do you want to make a pivot? Consider what your favorite tasks are right now and what you dislike doing. Going through a guided self-assessment can help here. Another step is to ask friends and family what they think your strengths are. Then, research job roles and industries that fit that. You may also discover skills that you need to improve before going after roles in a specific industry.

Resume Revamp

Next, you need to update your resume to speak to the type of role you are pursuing, especially if you're looking to switch industries or careers. Focus on measurable results that you contributed to.

Kristi emphasized creating a specific, engaging profile statement: 3-4 high-quality sentences describing your skills and passion for this type of work. You could also do a list of highlights. No matter how you style it, this is your chance to immediately grab the hiring manager's attention.

Remember, simple, scannable text is key here. There is no need to get fancy with the design!
