First—have fun! If you’re not having fun, your meeting attendees aren’t going to have fun either.
Whether you’re running a small department meeting or hosting a huge virtual conference, it can be tempting to lose yourself in stressing over logistical and technical details and the costs behind your event. However, it’s important to step back and enjoy the moment and make sure you AND your audience are having a good time.
Second, bring in elements of storytelling with a theme.
As Mark says, “the theme is essentially the content that you’re going to hang everything on.” Your audience will grab onto that story.
In the virtual world, you can do this by putting your attendees into the scene of an 80s quiz game show like the Jeopardy!® game from The Training Arcade®. You could even have attendees dress like the 80s to really immerse themselves in the theme.
