How to Quickly Recolor Vector Images | eLearning Brothers

Sometimes you put in countless hours of work on a vector image project, only to have someone come in at the last minute and alert you that either the color scheme is not what they wanted, or it shouldn't be in color at all. You poured your heart and soul into those graphics! How long is it going to take to select each object, one by one, and tediously fiddle with the colors?

Lucky for you, there is an easier way, and it takes all of one minute to fix.

To Change Color to Grayscale:

Select artwork
Select Edit→Edit Colors→Convert to Grayscale

To Change Artwork Colors

Open up your vector artwork in Illustrator
Select all desired artwork with Selection tool (V)
Select the Recolor Artwork icon at the top middle of your screen (or select Edit→EditColors→Recolor Artwork)

Within Recolor Artwork

To change individual colors: select (double click) your desired color under “New” and change colors within the color picker
To change multiple colors: select Edit and to link colors together, select link icon, select a point, and drag colors around the color wheel.
To change artwork colors darker or lighter: make sure left middle icon above slider is selected, then drag slider left or right.
To change artwork saturation: make sure right middle icon above slider is selected then drag slider left or right.
